The family of Albert David Barton sadly announce his death at Fredericton’s Hospice House on August 25, 2020. He is survived by his children: David and Kelly (O’Leary) and their children Taylor, Kylie and Jamie, of Waterloo, ON; Jeffrey and family of Fredericton; and Heather (Barton) and Brent Ferguson and their children Gavin and Nora of Burlington, ON; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Marjorie (McCutcheon) and siblings, Helen, James and George. Albert was born in North Clones, Queens County, and his family relocated to New Maryland in 1953 with the creation of CFB Gagetown. After graduating from Fredericton High School, he studied engineering at UNB and began his career with the NB Department of Transportation and Dames & Moore Limited Canada. For the next 25 years, he was an Instructor at NB Community College - Saint John, first teaching Civil Engineering Technology and then Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and lived in Saint John, Halifax, Truro and Moncton. In addition to the staff at Hospice House and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Palliative Care Unit, the family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Southeast NB volunteer Daryl Cail. At Albert’s request, there will be a private family service. For those who wish, remembrances to Hospice Fredericton or Hospice Southeast New Brunswick would be appreciated.
