Obituary of Myles Fredrick McCoy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Myles Frederick McCoy on July 29, 2022, at York Care Centre. Born in Noonan, NB on November 2, 1938, he was the son of the late George and Carol “Carrie” (MacDonald) McCoy, and the beloved spouse of Elizabeth “Betty” (Paul) McCoy.
Myles was a carpenter by trade, and owned and operated Myles McCoy Contractor. He loved mechanical work as well, and could be often found working in his garage tinkering around and working on his vehicles. The garage was his man cave. He enjoyed listening to his favorite country tunes, having a good game of crib, playing cards with the St. Mary’s Senior Group, and travelling. A lot of his travels happened with the St. Mary’s Senior Group every summer, and they appreciated the sites of several places. The camp on Grand Lake was also another spot Myles would travel to, and he loved being there. Even though he did not need to, Myles would cut the grass at the camp and clean up after others at their camp sites and ensured the grounds general tidiness was at its best. Some of his fellow friends that stayed there would lovingly refer to him as Mr. Lahey. Another pastime Myles enjoyed was hunting in his bus with family and friends. Visits from his special friend Dorice Doiron were always something he looked forward to. He especially loved attending family gatherings and spending time with everyone. He was a devoted husband, of 67 years, and father.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Betty; children, Suzanne McCoy (Joe), Karen Johnson (Jack), Leslie McCoy (Kelly), Eldon McCoy (Natalie), George McCoy (Racquel), Gwen Fraser (Jim) and Lisa Wilson (Jeff); twenty grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Marina Grimmer, Aldina Price and Charlene Thomas (Phillip); brothers, Allan (Nancy), Paul (Sharon), Richard (Debbie) and Fred McCoy (Brenda); sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Dolly McCoy, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Myles was predeceased by his sister, Marie, as well as brothers, Albert McCoy, Leroy McCoy, George Astles, and Ron McCoy.
A special thank you to all the staff at York Care Centre in the Birch Grove unit. Everyone was so attentive, compassionate and took great care of Myles.
