I first met Bill in 1963. He was a few years older than me and I looked up to him. We enjoyed numerous activities together through the remainder of the decade. He was always considerate and kind, and fun to be around.
I worked for several years before entering university, as did Bill. Together with his brother Bob, he encouraged my efforts to do so, while setting an example. Perhaps, unknown to Bill, he was instrumental in changing my life for the better. I was proud to be his friend.
I offer my condolences to Mary, his brothers and sister, his children, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
