Obituary of Jordan Malachi Ray

On Wednesday, September 7, 2011, after 2 ½ years of living with osteosarcoma, Malachi has returned home to his Heavenly Father. He was the precious son of Jocelyn Rose Fraser of Moncton and Benjamin Lehi Ray of Fredericton, treasured stepson of Marni Jean Ray of Fredericton, and beloved brother of Nathan Fraser-Myers of Moncton. Besides his parents, stepmother and brother, he is survived by maternal grandparents, Shirley Hughes (Sterling) of Alma, and William Fraser (Dee) of Moncton; paternal grandparents, David and Carol Ray of Fredericton; aunts Darian Hughes, Renay Slattery (Derek), Randa Ray Hull (Jim), Jessica Robichaud (David); uncles, Stephen Ray (Hilary), and Daniel Ray (Emily); and eleven cousins, as well as numerous extended family members, including grandparents Shirley and Hank Reinhard of Texas, and aunts, uncles, and cousins in Riverview, Texas, and Nebraska. Malachi was an insightful, engaged, loving, empathetic, inquisitive, intelligent, and funny young man. He enjoyed nature, animals, swimming, fishing, video games, books (especially Harry Potter), and his dog, Soldier. He had a special bond with his many cousins, especially Ryan. He cherished his older brother Nathan. The family wishes to thank the staff at the IWK, as well as countless friends and strangers worldwide, for all they have done to help Malachi during his illness. Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 12th, at 1:00 pm in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Seymour Memorial Cemetery at 122 Kingsley Road. Also A memorial service will be held at Highfield Baptist Church, 290 St. George Street Moncton, NB on Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 at 7:30 pm. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the IWK or The Water Project, Malachi’s preferred charities.
