Obituary of Marie (Butler) Gray

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie (Butler) Gray of Fredericton, New Brunswick on September 8, 2022, her 83rd birthday. Marie was born on Bell Island, Newfoundland in 1939, the youngest of 8 children, to Harold and Mary Butler. After graduation from nursing school in 1960, she worked in hospitals in St John’s, Bell Island, Ottawa and Fredericton, finishing her career at the veteran's unit (DVA). She loved travelling the world, socializing and playing cards with friends, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and her 7 siblings, including a twin brother. Marie will be deeply missed by her husband of 57 years, Edward Gray, RCMP, her daughter Jennifer Ross (Todd) and their boys Corey (Nicole) and Calvin, and her son Alan Gray (Sarah Brooks) and their daughter Ashley, all of Fredericton. Many nieces and nephews in Canada and the UK have fond memories of their Aunt Marie. McAdam’s Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. A private family service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the Christ Church Cathedral, the Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
