I am also just hearing of Paul's Passing. He was indeed a mentor to many social workers over the years and his influence made me a stronger, more confident social worker. Thank you Paul for all the memories. You will be truly missed

Just finding out about this loss and I’m truly sorry to you all! Paul was a dear friend whom I hadn’t seen in some time but was always on my mind as we shared so many good times and lots of laughs. If Paul wasn’t over the house playing poker with me and the boys he was helping me renovate my house or I’d be over his shop while he worked on his many wood working projects. We’d drink coffee and talk about life and politics and he’d share his wisdom with me and was someone I looked up too and was not just a great neighbour but a friend. I Love you Paul and may you Rest In Peace my brother. Richard Mollins and Family.

My sincere condolences to Pau‘’s family during this very difficult time. I worked with and supervised Paul at the Department of Social Development. Paul was hard working, reliable, a kind and caring worker who made many friends among his colleagues and clients. Paul always had your back even if he disagreed with you. He had a great sense of humour and laughed with his heart and soul. Paul was also known for his ability to build decks, sheds, cupboards and manage projects and many of his colleagues can say they have something he made in the home. Paul will always be remembered and missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. We went to St. Thomas University social Work Program together and had a lot of laughs and chats together. We also had some good conversations by phone between the Fredericton Office and the Saint John office over office politics, client services etc. He was a good sounding board and I always appreciated his insights into all thing social work.

Paul was a mentor to me in my early social work days. I'll never forget him helping me calm my nerves as we drove to see clients. His sincerity and presence was greatly missed from our work place when he retired. Undoubtedly his wisdom (and humor) lives on in the social workers that he advised and are still in the field today. Sincerest sympathies to Paul's family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Paul's passing. He was a bright star in our office, with a great sense of humor when needed in a line of work which was often difficult. I shall always enjoy memories of the great chats we had about everything, from office politics, faith, his childhood in Newfoundland and about his many diversions and skills. He will be missed. Condolences to family and close friends. Allan Thomson

Kate and Family, I am so very sorry for this immense loss. Paul was a gem and a real fixture in our teenage years. I remember him usually on the move and fixing whatever needed done to the house in Champlain Heights(with a coffee always in hand). He was an incredibly talented man. Thinking of you all.

I am so sorry Kate and family.
Paul was a gem. He took me in as one of his own, made me feel at home, insured me on his car and would leave treats on the counter for me from time to time when he knew I was broke. I loved when he would come back to the house for a few days at a time and send us to Timmy’s for coffee on Saturday mornings.
Paul never made me feel like a 2rd cousin or a renter. He always included me in everything and I was never made to feel like I was imposing.
He spoke highly and with pride of his sobriety, his family & his work, he had alot to be proud of.
Your Dad will be missed & he was loved ❤️

Paul was a mentor to me as a new social worker. Although he didn’t pass on his great woodworking skills (a lesser known social work skill set), he was fundamental in building my confidence and capabilities as a new frontline worker. I’m lucky to have been his colleague and very saddened by his passing.

So sorry to hear of Paul’s unexpected passing. Sending condolences to his family, friends and former co-workers. I worked with Paul for some time and although we occasionally “ locked horns” I had great respect for his commitment, intelligence and ability to recognize reality! Rest In Peace Paul. May cherished memories bring comfort and peace to those whose lives that Paul touched. I will always remember him with great fondness and the utmost of positive regard. His wit and wisdom was a blessing to us all. I was blessed to have worked with him and always appreciated his sincerity and genuineness and authenticity. He was always trusted by myself and he never steered me wrong no matter what! It brings tears to my eyes to hear of his passing - but many memories wash those tears away with uproarious laughter and good fun. Paul was a gem in a field of stones! Rest high on that mountain Paul! Until I see you again - Rest in Eternity! Jim

It is with great shock and sadness we hear of Paul’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. So many memories of Paul but one that to this day continues to make us smile is when he wanted to purchase our car. We brought the car to have him test drive and when he returned the back seat and trunk was full of lumber .Someone was having a yard sale so Paul’s love of wood got the better of him. He stopped and loaded the car only to return to say he was going to buy it. RIP Paul .

My sincere sympathy to Paul’s family…he loved you all so much and was so proud of everyone. I have known Paul for 44 years - he has been a great friend to me and to my family and a wonderful Social Work colleague. My family were fortunate to also have been recipients of Paul’s woodworking career and have many items that Paul built for us ☺️ Paul was a very kind soul and helped many people over the years within his work and in the community. We had many laughs together over the years - I will miss Paul and will always remember him fondly. RIP Dear friend.

I worked with Paul in Saint John. Sometimes he could be described as a bull in a crystal store, at other times as a do gooder of endless generosity. He gave good advise, whether it was wanted or not and had more backbone than most. I truly like, respect and sometimes feared him, but I would've change anything about him if I could've. R.I.P. and thank you for everything!

A few "Paulitudes" or "Dadisms":
"How ya doin', me son?" - A greeting.
"I can appreciate that!" - A typical affirmation.
"I'm gonna 'somethin' you in a minute..." - A typical threat.
"I'll do the drivin', you do the sittin'!" - A way of telling you to stay in your own lane.
"ANGELA!!!" -A loud command to magically appear, already knowing exactly what to do.
"I'll kick you in the butt with a wet muckluck." - Another, more affectionate, threat.
"Whata'ya after doin' now?!" - An expression of frustration.
"When I was in seminary..." A method of establishing common experience and asserting authority.
"If you're going to worry why pray, and if you're going to pray why worry?" - Life advice
"Half a dozen of one, six of another." - A favourite phrase
"Okay...So what do you want me to do about it?" - His way of cutting through a veiled attempt at asking for a favour.
And finally, "In the church Fr Matthew is the boss, but the rest of the time I'M THE BOSS!"
LOVE YOU DAD, WE KNOW YOU'D GET A REAL KICK OUT OF THESE!!

My deepest condolences to Paul's family...Paul and I worked together for the better part of his career as a Social Worker - we shared many, many, many laughs together (a good survival skill much needed in this line of work)..he could be very argumentative but believed what he was arguing about was of the utmost importance. He had a very kind heart and offered good advice when anyone was troubled....he became a very good friend that could be depended upon...he certainly made my days on many occasions. Rest in peace my friend you will be missed
