Obituary of Winston Gregory Hamilton

It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of Winston Gregory (Greg) Hamilton on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the York Care Centre, Fredericton, New Brunswick. Born on October 24, 1949, he was the son of the late Winston and Marion (Watt) Hamilton.

Greg was a devoted civil servant for 37 years, working in Supply and Services and with the Department of Health until his retirement in 2012. He was a proud member of the Christ Church Parish Church and helped with many of their community projects. As a volunteer, Greg was a past president of the Fredericton Kinsmen Club. In his downtime, he loved his visits to Davidson Lake, where he spent many peaceful moments.

Above all things, Greg loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spoiling his grandchildren, and looked forward to every visit.

Greg will be forever missed by his wife of 48 years, Elaine; daughter, Amanda (Matt); grandchildren, Ashlyn, Rennick, and Blake; sister, Kathy Duncan (Gary), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Greg was predeceased by his infant son, Andrew.

The family wish to express their great appreciation for the kind and compassionate care Greg received at the York Care Centre.

A visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00pm. A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Christ Church (Parish) Church, with a private family interment at a later date. The family would appreciate if visitors would be COVID sensitive, and have asked that masks be worn at each event.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chalmers’s Foundation (pediatrics), the Children’s Wish Foundation, or to your local the SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
