Obituary of Holger Verner Mollegaard

It is with sadness that the family of Holger Verner Mollegaard announce his passing on September 21, 2020 at Windsor Court Fredericton at the age of 94. Born May 9, 1926 in Denmark, Europe he was the oldest son of the late Helga and Gudmund Mollegaard of Denmark. Holger is also predeceased by his brother’s Svend and Gunner of Denmark. Holger is survived after 71 years of marriage to his cherished wife Ruth and his six children. Son Leif (Eleanor) of Fredericton, daughter Irene Webb of Brisbane Australia, son Alex (Holly) of Fredericton, son Frank of Fredericton, sons Eric and Ken of Moncton, also grandchildren and great grandchildren. Holger also is survived by his brother Knud of Holstebro Denmark. Holger was a master carpenter and got his training in Denmark and immigrated to Canada in 1951 to Moose Jaw to work. He also worked in Regina and in 1956 made his way east and settled in Fredericton. He was self employed and a good provider for his family. He loved spending the summers on Indian Lake boating and listening to the loons. After retiring he enjoyed building a pontoon house boat, sail boat and made a sculling boat to be used at Indian Lake where the family enjoyed the summers. At Holger’s request there will be no visitation or service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being held under the direction of McAdam’s Funeral Home.
