Obituary of Bertrand Edward Jarvis
The family of Bertrand is saddened to announce his passing on November 18, 2022 in Ottawa, Ontario. For those left to mourn, he was a beloved husband of 70 years to Jeanette (nee Bovaird); cherished father to Jaye and father-in-law to John Feres; loving grandfather to Christopher (Robyn) and Andrew; great-grandfather to Lennox; and brother to Areta Davidson and Robert (Sheila).
He is preceded by his parents William and Katherine (nee Pond), his daughter Nancy Feres, his sisters Estella Harvey (Bill), Thelma Murdock (Don), Lois Wilson (Dara) and brother-in-law Carl Davidson.
Born in Marysville, NB, he grew up on the family farm in Red Rock. After school, Bert left for Northern Ontario to begin his over 40 year career in the forestry industry, first with Howard-Smith Paper Mills and then with Domtar. During those years he and Jeanette set up home in many places including Cochrane, Ont, Sherbrooke, Que., Nipigon Ont., and Cornwall Ont. Upon retirement Bert and Jeanette returned home to New Brunswick.
Bert loved his family and the outdoors. For him, whether it was fishing, gardening, berry picking, camping, tracking a deer or a moose, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, rock-hounding, or exploring new roads, it was always better with family and friends along. His favourite days were travelling down a forgotten road to find a great fishing hole.
