Obituary of Ludovic Joseph Manuel

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ludovic Joseph “Devic/Vic” Manuel. Vic passed away on November 26, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB, at the age of 79.

He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marilyn (Jenkins) Manuel, and his children, Stephen Manuel (Leanne Zorn), Michelle Washington, Tanya Manuel-Boldon (late Mark Boldon), and Krista Manuel.

Vic also adored his grandchildren, Justin McGraw (Breanne), Jennika (McGraw) MacDonald (Jeremy), Jesse Manuel, Jordan Cunningham, Brett Boldon, Annik Boldon, Sebastien Manuel and Sarah Washington, and his 5 great-grand-children, Jenson McGraw, Jaxon McGraw, Brett McGraw, Violet MacDonald, and Elodee MacDonald.

Devic est originaire de Baie Saine-Anne, NB. Il était le fils de Annie and August Daigle et est survécu par ses frères et sœurs, Lucien, Maria, Thérèse, Estelle, Valérie, Gérard et Bernice.

Vic graduated from École Secondaire de Baie Ste-Anne in 1961 and continued his studies at Fredericton’s Teachers College and the Saint Joseph Institute in Memramcook. He then completed his Bachelor of Education at Saint Thomas University in 1964 to become an educator.

He spent his teaching career in Baie Sainte Anne NB, where he was the school principal for many years. He then switched gears and tried something new by taking his people skills to the Province of NB’s Department of Transportation and worked as a Human Resources officer for the remainder of his working career.

Devic was in his happy place when he was surrounded by his wife and family. He loved the ocean and rivers, particularly when he was digging clams and fishing. He was a caring, generous, considerate, and selfless man. He adored his wife and family and enjoyed the simple things in life.

He was never about the rules, but rather about the people. We, the family, are so proud and honoured to be able to call this wonderful person husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the people who have supported the family over this difficult time. Your kindness and caring have helped in so many ways.

A visitation and Funeral Service will take place next summer in Baie Sainte-Anne, NB. Details will be shared as the time draws closer.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Vic’s memory to the charity of your choosing would be appreciated by the family
