We worked with Hugh for many years when he was at District Office. You could always depend upon him to approach any problem with a compassionate eye. We all benefited from his giving nature and his respect for the complexities of any situation. His wonderful sense of humour invited a balance to our work.
We extend our condolences to his family and friends on the loss of this man.

Philip, Peggy, Ron and Duplisea families,
I first knew Hugh in Cubs in the 1040s at Brunswick Street Baptist Church, where he was a 'sixer'; that was before the days of Latter Day Saints. I later became familiar with the whole family, including both of Hugh's parents. All of them have been friends to me, and Hugh was especially always cheerful and positive. My condolences to all of you. Bill Walker

I remember Hugh first when we were students at UNB in the '60's. He was often part of a group dining at the old Student Centre and was always a very interesting and entertaining guy. As a teacher I encountered him off and on through our working years. He was an accomplished professional and a good person. My sympathy to all the family. Sandra MacBean, Stanley

I was fortunate to work with Hugh in education in our District and always enjoyed all of our dealings and interactions. He was a most positive gentleman with a heart of gold in every sense. I was fortunate, as well, to know more of his family from our shared heritage in Marysville and through family connections to his former wife, Sherrille ( Stewart ) and my own Stewart ancestry. He was always quick to note our common family connections, as he researched them, and even pointing to both of our wives being named Cheryl, with a different spelling. That is a key characteristic in my memories of Hugh….his efforts to forge real interactions with people and find the good and common connections we could share. Rest In Peace, Hugh. You will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by so many.

To all the Duplisea family: My sincere condolences. He will be missed greatly. I will always remember him. Whenever he taught classes in the Church, they reflected his spiritual knowledge and wisdom which made them remarkably interesting and made the subject easy to absorb. He excelled to a level of greatness and then he gave us his best.
