Obituary of Marilyn Irene Richardson

Surrounded by her loving family, the passing of Marilyn Irene (Fulton) Richardson of Minto, New Brunswick, wife of Marven Richardson, occurred on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Born on December 21, 1941 in Minto, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Amber and Clarence Barton.

In addition to her loving husband of 61 years, Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Brenda (David); sons, Stephen (Darla) and Michael; grandchildren, Curtis (Kyle), Cody (Jena), Brett, Brandon (Dylan), and Olivia; step-grandchildren, Ross (Miranda) and Stephen (Moira); great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Logan, and Aiden; sister, Martha; brother-in-law, Gerry (Beverley); special niece, Joyce, and several other nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Harold, Roy, and Fred Fulton; sisters, Alice Taylor, Verna Boyne, Shirley Dufour, and Vivian Ferris.

Marilyn was a special woman, and will be remembered as caring, charismatic, and so very proud of her family. She was known for opening her home to friends and family as she loved spending time with loved ones, especially when it came to her grandchildren whom she loved and cherished with all her heart. Marilyn loved making jokes, playing guitar and card games, and enjoyed the many bowling trips taken as part of the Minto Golden Girls and Minto Aces. Marilyn just had a way of making everyone she encountered feel special.

Because of the love and care given to her by her devoted husband, Marven, Marilyn was able to remain in the comfort of her home for as long as she could. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital’s 4NW and palliative care units. During what was a very difficult time for the family, the staff went above and beyond to ensure Marilyn remained as comfortable as possible.

There will be no visitation as per Marilyn’s request. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16th at 1:00pm at the Minto Christian Community Church at 819 Pleasant Drive, Minto, NB, followed by a reception at the Minto Senior Citizens Club at 11 O’Leary Lane, Minto, NB. Burial will be held at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Minto Elementary School Breakfast Program or an organization of the donor’s choice.
