Obituary of Patricia Maureen Murphy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Maureen Murphy of Fredericton, NB. Surrounded by the love of her family she passed peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on February 25, 1936, daughter of the late Paul and Margaret McGinn. Survived by her loving husband, Gerard, and their children, Paul (Carolyn), Shawn (David), Jamie (Jessica); brother, Walter (Jeannine); grandchildren, Ryan (Ally), Kristyn, Jacob (Ellie), Matt, Megan, Jeremy, Connor, Tessa, and Nathan; great granddaughter, Emma. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary and Margaret "Marka". Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Pat graduated from the St. John General Hospital School for Nurses in 1957. Her adventurous spirit and passion for caring for others led her nursing career to Halifax, Galveston, Texas and back to Atlantic Canada where she worked in Saint John, Dartmouth, Charlottetown, Moncton, and Fredericton. She was a member of St. Dunstan’s Parish Church and the St. John General Hospital Nurses Association. In her retirement she continued giving to others through her involvement with Meals on Wheels in both Fredericton and Saint John. Her love of history also led her to volunteer at the Saint John Museum for several years. Pat became an accomplished painter in her later years. Her works of art hang proudly on the walls of all her family’s homes. Arrangements are in care of McAdam’s Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass for family and invited guests only will be celebrated from St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church, Fredericton. Interment will take place in the Hermitage Catholic Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Pat’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
