Condolences to Phil's family and friends. My name is Patrick (McCarthy) Psihogios and I attended grade school (Holy Angels) with Phil in Sault Ste Marie Ontario in the '50s. I have never forgotten Phil as you described "one in a million." The Lepage family lived on Gore St and we spent a lot of time coming and going there. He was an exceptional hockey player and when he broke his leg one year we were all devastated and carried him around when ever he needed help. I remember one summer some of the gang found an old set of wooden shaft golf clubs in an attic, we brought them to Central Park to see how they worked, things were going so-so and then Phil showed up. The park was about 4-6 acres in size. Damn if Phil didn't hit the ball out of the park, we were amazed, I can still see that ball flying high and far, just like Phil - flying high and far. RIP Phil from the Holy Angels gang.

I went to high school with Phil in Bathurst.
I believe a common thread exists among anyone who knew Phil. Of course, he was a tremendous athlete…a natural.
When I think of Phil I feel his warmth. Although we haven’t crossed paths in years, the couple times I did run into him (JAZZ & BLUES and Fton golf course) ….it was the same Phil I knew at LEBLANC HIGH…in ‘66 ‘67….consistently sweet…must admit I got a bit shy around him…ya know, high school crushes stay with you.
I’m sooo sorry about all this.
Donna, you have a lot of family and friends to lean on that’s for sure.my condolences to all his children, grandchildren, sisters, friends, everyone who loved him.

I knew 'of' Phil long before we became friends. He was starring for the UNB Red Devils when I was hacking it out in the faculty league. Much later when he hung up his curling broom and decided to give hockey another go, we recruited him for the Atlantic Rentals, 2.0 - oldtimers version. You alway hear about what a classy guy he was, but seeing it up close is a pure joy. We were team mates from the late eighties until I moved to Alberta in 2001. I last saw Phil in 2018 when I got back for the MacTivish Invitational at River Bend and we had a great chat, both of us having served decades in the NB Public Service. Warm memories, sad heart.

Donna and family , words do not come easy at a time like this.
Phil was a colleague and friend . Our paths crossed numerous times during our careers with government but what I remember most are the laughs and stories over a beverage of choice as we gathered at Carolyn’s. His smile , as all say, was warm and welcoming and his stories of travel and adventures with you Donna , always exciting.
He was a man of integrity and quiet insight and extremely proud of his family whose adventures and careers he would share with pride .
To say he will be missed seems not enough to explain the memories we will all carry .
Donna ,my heart goes out to you and words can not express my feeling of sadness for you in your loss of a great soul mate. You were a great wife , partner and sidekick . May the many memories of good times help in this so sad a time .

We were fortunate to have Phil and Donna as our next door neighbours for over 32 years. Our children grew up together so we spent many good times in our adjoining backyards. Multi-family New Year's potlucks at Lepage's were memorable.
We will miss seeing Phil coming around the corner on his ride-on mower and watching he and Donna going up the street on their daily walk, no matter what the weather. We will especially miss Phil's "howdy neighbour" when we go up the stairs into their family room. A glass of wine or beer was always soon to offered.

Then we shared many great years on the GNB Sport and Recreation Branch team. Always cool, always positive, always a team player and always wise with his comments and advice. Exemplary public servant, ending his 42 year career as a trusted and respected deputy minister. Beyond his public service record and being a 4-sport all star (national baseball team, UNB Red Devil, low handicap golfer and BHS basketball player) he was devoted to enjoying and supporting Donna and his whole family. He faced the last several difficult months with courage, resolve and a strong sense of optimism ... as always, an example to all who knew an loved him. His legacy is and always will be wide and deep.

Dear Donna, Tony, Andy, Marty and Alexina, your family and our community have lost a special human being. The obituary you wrote for Phil captures the man I knew and came to love during my days with him in the Sport Branch. I felt so lucky to have been recruited by Suzanne Mason and Jim Morell to join that team and, even luckier, to have had Phil as my teammate. I was a pretty young guy back then and looked to Phil for his support, encouragement, and mentorship as I navigated the world of work. We had good fun working with sport volunteers and especially with Canada Games athletes and their coaching staffs. Those were good days and Phil factored into them big time. He was one great guy, someone I thought of as a positive life force and a good friend. Gisele and I join you in grieving the loss of your patriarch. Our community light is a little dimmer today.
