I missed recognizing the name at the time of Archie's death. But it is never too late to tell you how much he meant to the residents of Leads Drive and Rochester Street. His wonderful 'Santa in his slay' adorned the roof of the house on the corner of Leads and Rochester every Christmas for many years. Then when he got too old to climb on the roof he placed it on the lawn. When his friend Janet McLeod sold the house he approached the new owner and asked if he could continue putting it on the lawn at Christmas time for the local children. This wish was granted, and not only the local children continued to enjoy it, but also us adults. It was a real part of the Christmas season.
I also remember his name on all the lifts (elevators) at UNB Fredericton. I believe that I also met him as a volunteer at the Fredericton Community Kitchen. He was a great guy. I am privilaged to have know him.
Nóra Ní Chuív (formally of 107 Rochester St).

Dearest Jan: Needless to say, Jan, Harold and I are very sad that Archie has passed. We send you our deepest condolences. He will be missed by many. We are so glad we have so many good memories. He was an extraordinary neighbor in every way. He made our years on Oak Avenue a pleasure and at times an adventure. A better friend we won't find again. Our memories are boundless. His fondness for our Sophie was so appreciated because as we both know he wasn't really a "dog" person. His sense of humor wasn't wasted on us - we enjoyed his stories very much and can remember many of them.
