Obituary of Leslie Murray
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of A. Leslie Murray, of Island View, NB, on Thursday, February 9th, 2023, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton. Leslie was born in 1930, and was the son of the late Percy and Margaret (McKeague) Murray, formally of Gagetown, NB.
Leslie was a graduate of NB Teachers College. After teaching high school for several years, he joined the Canadian Air Force for a few years. He ended up finding his way into the banking industry, in particular IAC/Continental Bank, which he then worked in for 35 years, retiring with the Hong Kong Bank. His career in the banking industry had Leslie traveling and living in many different areas. He moved to and lived in several different places in NB, but Dartmouth, NS was one of the areas he stayed the longest in. After his retirement in banking, Leslie was the Chief Financial Consultant for NB Innovation Center Fredericton, and worked with opening Miratech INC, Miramichi.
In retirement, Leslie enjoyed gardening, keeping his yard tidy, and spending his time outdoors. Almost every morning he would wake up and head to the coffee shop to have coffee with his friends. He was also a very involved and faithful member of the Luxor Shriners of New Brunswick, especially with the Shriner’s Fire Brigade Fredericton chapter.
Leslie is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Huestis); daughter, Diane Murray-Munn (Jeffery) of Island View; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Alyssa, Molly and Martin; several great grandchildren; his sister, Florence Peterson of Downey, CA, and several extended family members.
