So very sorry for your loss! “Mr. Fillmore” as I knew him was a wonderful teacher during my high school years in 75/ 76. He made being a student fun and his teaching was unique and relevant. I reconnected with Mr. Fillmore recently, and after 45 years I was delighted to find he not only remembered me (he always called me “ McAllister” ) but he was as pleasant wise and humorous as he was all those years ago. I must say I felt very sad when I came upon this obituary today ! He is surely missed by so many! Praying for you all “McAllister” ( Douglas McAllister) Fredericton

Carolyn, Mike & Karen, I wanted to say how sorry we were to hear of our Uncle Herb's passing, him and I shared similar journeys and interests in our lives. He always encouraged me on my path through education and also outdoor interests which both him and my Dad so enjoyed. We had a chance to visit with my wife's parents when we traveled by motorhome to eastern Canada. Uncle Herb was so welcoming to all of us and my in laws have such fond memories of our visit. He was a very thoughtful and welcoming man with a great sense of humour and an incredible laugh. He will be greatly missed.

Carolyn, Mike & Karen. I just learned of Herb's passing today. So sorry for your loss. Such a brilliant man. I had many good times with Herb when we were both involved with Ducks Unlimited. We often travelled together to project dedications and he always amazed me in how he would engage in conversation with anyone and have such depth knowledge of whatever subject they were discussing. He certainly was a keen waterfowler. He suffered some great loss in his life and I recall discussing this with him at his home when Jeff passed. His strength was unreal. I had the opportunity to visit him at Pine Grove a few times and one evening we even enjoyed the music in the dining room and had a few laughs. Here's to You Herb!

I was very proud and honoured to know and have one of the most brilliant minds to learn from albeit for a short time. I met Herb many years back at our local corner store, where he taught me how to play crib and backgammon. Herb always had a wise tale to offer and when seeking advice I had one of the most brilliant men at my disposal. His humour, charisma and life journey allowed many to be in the presence of a very wise and happy man. When he lost Jeff, he taught me a lesson in lose that I carry to this day. He was like an uncle and a really amazing mentor. I think of him daily and still recall his burst out high pitch laugh. Rest well old friend, your journey down here is done. But, please look out for us, and till we meet again.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you you Carolyn, Mike , Karen and all who loved a great man we called, Uncle Herb. I can still remember holidays to visit the eastern family and seeing our Aunts and Uncles and cousins, the memories we have are cherished. Uncle Herb always made us welcomed and I loved his chats with us even as kids ! He was always interested in what we were doing in our lives. My Dad and Mom always enjoyed chatting with him on the phone, he was always full of news and they had some good laughs, I was lucky enough to be in on some of the calls they could last for hours! We all have great memories and we will miss him.
Love to you all

sad to hear the news, Mr Fillmore was my high school teacher in Minto, I was a member of his chess club and his son Jeff was a friend, reading his life story had no idea at that time of his accomplishments, he was one of the few teachers I remember fairly well and had always looked back fondly of his guidance , and now more than ever appreciate the time we had, condolences to his family and friends.

I extend my sympathy and condolences to Karen, Carolyn and Marilyn on Herb's passing. My memories of Herb go back to the fifties from the Grey Street - Avondale Court neighbourhood, and later when Herb was the first superintendent of School District 25 (July 1967 - August 1971) and I was one of several novice principals. His friendship to a number of us in later years was appreciated.

Carolyn and Karen, I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Herb's passing. He was always such a force. So many memories of our shared times at the main house in St.George have him standing (always the teacher) while others sat as he regaled us with great stories, insights, opinions (always strong, but well founded) and joie de vivre. I so enjoyed our discussions on topics ranging from the benign to often controversial. He shall be missed.

Dear Carolyn, Mike, and Karen. I was sad to hear of Uncle Herb's passing today. I will remember him as a remarkably intelligent and equally witty relative with great human insight. He didn't miss much in life except for those he lost far too soon. Yet he stood strong and stayed the course. Kudos for one of a kind. Love and hugs to all of you.
