Obituary of Linda Mae Collins

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Mae (Taplin) Collins on March 25, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on September 22, 1947, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Mary Julia (Tanner) Taplin and Arthur James Taplin.

Linda grew up in Halifax where her parents owned a grocery store. She shared many stories of her wonderful early years with her and her brothers helping out, and sneaking treats from the family store. In her early twenties, Linda’s love of music took her to Ireland where she explored the country with a local band. Upon her return to Halifax, Linda met the love of her life, Ian. They were married and settled in Lower Sackville, NS, where they raised their son, Christopher. The two eventually moved to Fredericton, NB, to be closer to their grandchildren. Linda was well known for her love of movies, music, and pop culture, and took great joy in sharing these with her friends and family.

Linda is survived by her son, Christopher Collins (Christina); her two grandchildren, Jordan Rose and Russell Ian Collins; her close cousin, Barb Ashford; nieces, Mary Taplin and Wendy Callahan, as well as several extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her husband, Ian, and brothers, Bernard “Skip” Taplin and John “Jack” Taplin, as well as a sister, Kathleen (in infancy).

Many thanks to the kind physicians and staff at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, as well as her friends and support system at her apartment complex on Queen Street in Fredericton.

A memorial service will be held at J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 8th, 2023, at 11 am with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available at https://vimeo.com/event/3230868.

For those who wish, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or The Canadian Liver Association. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcadamsfh.com
