Obituary of Joan (Taylor) Lautard

It is with sadness that the family of Joan Lautard announces her passing at Neill Hall in Fredericton on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the age of 76. Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, on December 17, 1946, she was the wife of Hugh Lautard.

In addition to her husband, Hugh, Joan leaves behind her son, David Lautard (Lisa Valenta); daughters, Cynthia Lautard (Scott Downie), Jessica Lautard (Steve Parish) and Liz Lautard; grandchildren, Harmony, Scott, Nathan, Eliana, August, Oisín, and Mackenzie; sisters, Jane Briggs (Bob) and Anne Walsh (Garth); nieces, Heather Nolan (Brad), Lindsay and Meghan; several cousins. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Kathleen (Birnie) and Lawrence Taylor and step-father, Corey Sansom.

Joan’s early schooling was in Aroostook, followed by junior high and high school in Fredericton. Always interested in history, she completed her BA at St. Thomas University as a history major.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ginson and her colleagues in her practice. Also, the doctors and nurses at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for their care of Joan following her stroke, in November 2020, as well as the staff of the Oromocto Public Hospital’s Duffie Unit. A big thank you to Dr. Robertson and the RNs, LPNs, and CCAs at Neill Hall, for their incredible care of Joan since May of 2021.

Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm with a funeral service beginning in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm. Pastor Ben Barcroft will be officiating. For those unable to attend in person a live stream of the funeral will be available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/event/3283839 . Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
