Esther Davis

Obituary of Esther Lorraine Davis

“I’m never far away, I’m always in your heart.”

After a long, strong-willed battle with illness, Esther Lorraine Davis is at peace.

Being sick for the past 32 years, she continuously defied all medical odds. Her strength and determination shocked doctors and everyone who knew her.

Youngest daughter to the late Guy and Kathleen Hickey, she is also predeceased by her brothers, Don Hickey and Buddy Hickey, and her sisters, Margaret Goodine, Dolly Powers, Patricia Jewett, and Jackie Hennessey.

Esther will be forever missed by her husband of 57 years, Bob Davis; their children, Terri-Lynn Miller (Robert), Shawn Davis (Heidi); grandchildren, Kim Miller (Chris McDougall), Katelyn Sutton (Luke), Brinley Davis, Luke Davis, and Nate Davis, and her great-grandchildren, Isla and Maverick McDougall. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Norma Kelly.

As anyone would tell you, she was the best grandmother. She loved to write stories for her grandchildren, as well as do crafts and bake with them. She proudly showed them off with pictures she displayed on the bag she carried and on every wall of their home.

Esther was a talented artist and her paintings are some of our most cherished possessions. They will be displayed within our homes in her memory. Her and Bob’s greatest passion was travelling, which they did together extensively by car, bus, plane, and train.

Her wishes are for you to mail a note or leave a Facebook message with her family of a memory that you have of her. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 15th, 2023, at Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery in the Field of Honour. In lieu of flowers, her wishes are for you to do something nice for someone today and/or plant something to remember her by. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Stan Cassidy Center, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Hospice House Fredericton.
