Brian Steeves was the loveliest of men. I remember with great fondness his tender reflections after the arrival of my son, Cameron. A thoroughly decent guy and a good husband to boot. Sheila, I cannot tell you how troubled I was to hear the news of Brian's premature death. I sincerely hope your memories of him and the love and support of good friends comfort you through the coming months and years. You were lucky to have him for as long as you did. He'll be terribly missed. One of those guys I always hoped to meet up with again down the road. Maybe I still will... next round.

I was saddened to learn of Brian's death. I haven't seen him in a few years but did see him on a regular basis at Crabb Mountain when he was a member of the Ski Atlantic Seniors Club and I was the representative of that club for Crabb Mountain. In those days, members of the Seniors Club would gather together for lunch upstairs and have many interesting conversations and share many laughs. He was a clever person and I would seek out information from him on a range of topics.
My condolences to the family.

On behave of the Board of Southampton House. (a home for Brain injured men ) I would like to express our sincere sympathy to Brian's family and close friends.
Brian was a member of the Board of Directors at Southampton House for a number of years. Brian cared about the men living in this home and frequently took time to visit with them catching up on their activities over the last weeks. He enjoyed engaging them in conversation and interested in their well being. Brian organized a Town Hall for the Board Members and the men. He developed questions that he felt would help the men express their opinion and get answers from the Board Members. There was a lot of interaction among the house residents and the Board was able to answer questions they had about some of the rules they may not have agreed with or activates they would like to engage in. It enabled the men to feel they had some control and say of their day to day activities, outings and the life they now have while dealing with an unfortunate traumatic head injury.
With sincere sympathy: Diane Nealis friend of Brian and Secretary of the Board of Directors SHI

I will always fondly remember our long and enjoyable political and other discussions over Sunday scones at Jon Oliver's house. I will remember "Uncle" Brian as the charming and engaging role model who heavily influenced my thinking and gave me valuable life skills.

50 years of wisdom and foolishness, and not always agreeing on which was which! Of course, the skiing was good too. Already greatly missed.

I was very saddened to learn of Brian's passing. He was part of the Wednesday coffee club at the Fredericton Inn. I enjoyed his stories, his intellect, wit and banter. Brian was a very open-minded about life which I think made our conversations that much more enjoyable. My sincere condolences to all of you.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Brian. We grew up together---3 houses apart...on Douglas Avenue. Although we have not been in touch for many years I still treasure our childhood fun times...building snow forts, sliding down my yard with our other neighbourhood friends etc. Mary (Hansen) Chisholm

Dear Sheila and family. I am so surprised to read of Brian’s illness and passing. He was one of the Fredericton icons, and always had time for a chat about a variety of topics. I enjoyed his sense of humor and his political opinions were so inciteful.
Please accept my deepest sympathy for this loss.

My deepest condolences to Sheila and family. Brian was truly a one-of-a-kind guy. He will be sadly missed by many. I had the privilege of working with him for many years. Brian was brilliant and made a great contribution to whatever he undertook. His brilliance, knowledge, whit, and broad interests, made him a delight to have discussions with over lunch. He respected the views of others, no matter how far they differed from his own, and was genuinely interested in listening to opposing views. In a world where too few people seem to think for themselves, Brian certainly thought for himself, and knew how to evaluate those “Talking Heads on TV”. We were still enjoying lunch together on occasion long after he retired - until just before the COVID restrictions. He will be greatly missed.
