Obituary of Lawrence Simeon Gorlick

On April 27, 2023, Lawrence Simeon Gorlick of Fredericton and a former Saint John native passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his adoring wife of 70 years, Ruth, and children, Geoff (Mary), Dean, and Andrew (Francesca); his granddaughter, Anica; step grandson, Rick (Vesna); along with many loved nieces and nephews, especially Susan Gorlick and Barry Nelson (Jean).

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Lawrence was loved by all.  His greatest time was at the family cottage on the Saint John River in the Kingston area. From 1945 on, “The Camp” was where he loved spending time. He loved splitting wood, gardening, and cutting the grass on his tractor, and spending time with family around the fire pit every evening.  Our family’s most cherished memories of Lawrence are of him at The Camp.

Lawrence and Ruth were well known and respected for their faith and service in the Anglican Church in Fredericton, Saint John, and Kingston. They were childhood sweethearts, being together 74 years.  He will be greatly missed by all.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of McAdams Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 1st, 2023 at McAdam’s Funeral Home from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 150 Church Row, Fredericton, on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 at 11 am, with Dean Geoffrey Hall officiating. For those unable to attend the service, a livestream will be available at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/@christchurchcathedralfton.  Interment will take place at Trinity Church Cemetery, Kingston, N.B. at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a donation to a local food bank would be appreciated. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.mcadamsfh.com.

We would like to thank the palliative care staff at DECH for the wonderful care they gave to my husband, our father and for the compassion they have shown to us.
