Obituary of Mary Shirlee Kavanaugh

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Shirlee Kavanaugh announce her passing Thursday, April 27 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was surrounded by her husband and loved ones.

Mary was born in Glace Bay, NS, on October 10, 1951. She was a loving wife, an amazing mother; she treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, Tom Kavanaugh, Mary leaves behind her daughters Janet Earle (Chuck) and Tricia Kavanaugh (Jamie); grandchildren, Tommy Kavanaugh, Jamie Kavanaugh, Shania Kavanaugh (Austin) and Nathan Graham; great granddaughter Lilly Kavanaugh; brothers Pat O’Connell (Chickie), Lenny O’Connell, Sam O’Connell (Linda); sisters, Doris Beattie, Londa McKinnon (Honey), Leaha Methven (Jeffrey) and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Patrick O’Connell and Doris Milley and by her great granddaughter Paisley Cusack.

There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 11 am. Fr. Maria Chinnappan will be the celebrant.
