Mrs. Marks was a wonderful piano teacher that instilled in me a great love and passion for music. To this day I remember the lessons she taught me, likely as much about life as they were about the piano. Condolences and thoughts to the whole Marks family.

My daughter was so fortunate to have Barbara Marks as her piano teacher. She gained a love for music and hard work, and loved going for her lessons. It was an important part of her growing up, and it led to her chosen career teaching school bands. She kept in touch with Barb over the years.
My condolences to your family at this sad time. From a grateful mother and daughter, Margie and Meg Ferguson

Dear Cliff, I was so sad to hear that Mrs. Marks passed away and I would you like to send my condolences to you and your family. I was so lucky to attend piano lessons with Mrs. Marks throughout elementary, middle, and high school. My lessons with her were a highlight of my week.. Mrs. Marks was the most wonderful piano teacher, and in addition to being immensely knowledgeable, was incredibly caring, thoughtful, and loving towards all her students. She made us all feel special and appreciated, no matter what our goals were relating to piano. Within and outside of our piano playing, she was supportive and interested in us - I remember many times where we would be so busy talking about our weeks that we would spend half the lesson chatting! One of my favourite memories that sums Mrs. Marks up as a knowledgeable teacher and compassionate person was when I was very young and having trouble learning my pieces. Instead of getting annoyed, she prescribed specific practice requirements for me, and, astonishingly, everything came together in a matter of a week, which we both celebrated. From this experience and many others, I learned so much from her. I will always cherish the years I spent taking lessons from Mrs. Marks and all the very special memories I have of her. - Maggie K.

My daughter, Jennifer, and I wish to express our condolences to the Mark's family on Barbara's passing. Everyone who had a connection with her were very blessed for all she did for her students. She not only taught music but was a builder of character that was so important in their growth. She was very proud of all her students and told you so with great ease. She leaves many wonderful memories for students and parents.

Dear Cliff and family
It is with immense sadness to hear of Barb’s passing!
She was one of the dearest person I knew! Kind, compassionate, cheerful, and very much loved by all who knew her! She taught my daughter who simply adored her! Everyone in Fredericton knew she was one of the best music teachers around. I feel blessed that myself and my children had the opportunity to have her teach them! She was an all rounded absolutely most beautiful person and i, as everyone who knew her, will miss her greatly! May her kind and most precious soul rest in peace as we are all left to mourn her loss while reminiscing the lovely memories she has left behind! My heart truly aches but somehow I know we will meet again in another dimension! Rest in peace dearest and amazing Barb! And thank you for your love, guidance and friendship! You are missed more than I can ever express! With great memories and overcomed with immense sadness. Suzanne Maltais, Genevieve and Alexandre. Xoxoxox

We are devastated to hear of the loss of this lovely, talented woman. A friend of mine took me to the Charlotte Street Arts Centre to hear senior piano students at this year's festival. I was fortunate enough to share an elevator with Barbara after the sessions that afternoon. Always lovely, she reached out to me with her warm and welcoming smile. I had no idea she was ill. The Fredericton arts community will never be the same. Please know how much we appreciated her, and how truly sorry we are for your tremendous loss.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Turney and family

My Monday piano lessons with Mrs Marks were a highlight of my week throughout middle school and high school. In addition to being an absolutely wonderful piano teacher who knew how to make every song sound just right, she evolved into the role of friend, confidant, and mentor. I have cherished the discussions we had and thought of Mrs. Marks often and fondly in the years since my lessons ended. Every few years our paths would cross and I’d swell with pride knowing that I had now graduated to the privilege of calling her Barb. I’d relish our (always too short) conversations and loved every hug. To her family, thank you for sharing her with us. I’m so so very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your Cliff, Brian and Moira. I remember spending time at the cottage during the summer. There always was a flurry of activities and lots of food to enjoy. Knitting needles were never far with such lovely patterns and colors...just like her personality. A candid smile often becoming laughter. Barby will be missed by all.

I first remember Barb from Mt A where she was my sister's friend, then she married my brother & later sang at my wedding. Barb was a sweet lady who always had a warm smile. She welcomed us into her & Cliff’s home where she made us feel welcome, served us her fabulous cooking & her quick wit as well as playing her piano for us to enjoy her music. She had loads of love for Cliff & their boys & then had loads of love for her daughter in laws & grandchildren. We will miss her. With loving remembrance of Barby, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to Cliff, Bryan & Moira, Sandy & her children. She is gone too soon but will always be fondly remembered. Lots of Love, Diane & Dave
