Obituary of Andrew Mitton, MAJ

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew “Andy” Charles Mitton, on June 2, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family at Hospice House Fredericton.

Andy was a man who refused to quit and left everyone who knew him with immeasurable lessons in how to truly live.  Very proud of his career, Andy was honoured to serve for his Country. He was a Major in the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry of the Canadian Army. He served overseas in Afghanistan, as well as Ukraine.

He was a man of many hobbies who lived his life to the fullest right until the end. Some of his favourite ways to spend his time were hunting, fishing, onewheeling, golfing, hiking, listening to music, cooking (especially smoking meat), and days spent at the cottage with his beloved family in PEI.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Kelley (Robinson) Mitton; cherished children, Gabriel and Adele Mitton; father, Walter Mitton (Aurore); mother, Elizabeth “Liz” Smith (Dana); sisters, Lisa Norden, Nicole Munns (Bill), and Kim Langen (Jeff); brothers, Jeffery Mitton (Mel), Chris Mitton (Rebecca), and Rodney Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A gathering to celebrate Andy’s life will be held at the Officers’ Mess, CFB Gagetown, on Thursday, June 8th, 2023, from 4 pm – 7 pm. A microphone will be available for those who wish to share stories and memories to the room.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Hospice House Fredericton.
