Obituary of Diane French
With sadness we announce the passing of Diane Marie (Brewer) French at Thomas Hall, Fredericton, on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Diane was born in Burtt’s Corner NB, in 1936. She was the daughter of the late Marie (Pugh) and Murray Brewer.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles French in 1997, her daughter Pamela French of Fredericton in 2019, and sister-in-law Ligoura McDonough of Saint John NB in 2006.
Diane leaves behind her sons Charles (Violet) of Toronto ON, Peter (Leslie Dawn) of New Maryland NB, along with her grandchildren Alexander, Joseph and Thomas French of Toronto ON, and Lily French of New Maryland NB. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Donald French of Saint John NB, Roy McDonough of Rothesay NB; along with nieces Charlene McDonough of Rothesay NB, Joanna Siauw of Halifax NS, Alison French of Saint John NB, and a nephew D.J. French of Halifax NS.
Diane was a graduate of the Keswick Valley Memorial High School and later the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. After graduating from university Diane worked as a teacher at Simonds High School in Saint John. Later she returned to Fredericton and worked in the Reference Department at the Harriet Irving Library, UNB Fredericton, and retired in 1996. She was a member of St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church, Fredericton, and the UNB Retired Employees Association.
A graveside service will take place at the Hermitage Catholic Cemetery, Fredericton NB, on Friday, August 25th, 2023, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the MS Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
