My strongest memory of Bob Lockhart occurred during a talk he gave at the Unitarian Fellowship on his experiences as a war correspondent. Bob commented: "Few people have enjoyed life as much as I have. Nobody has enjoyed it more". Sylvia Hale

It is with great respect and regret that I write in honour of Bob Lockhart’s memory and legacy. I first was introduced to Bob in Saint John
at the time of the city’s bicentennial celebrations in 1983.
Through all these many years since, we crossed paths at various events and he always had that signature enthusiasm and zest for life.
I have huge admiration and affection for him and his life well lived. He was a man for all seasons and such a gregarious, generous and genuine human being.
I will miss our random reunions and the sense camaraderie, community and caring that he always embodied with humanity and humour.
Lt. Col. Bob Lockhart, rest easy!

I wish to offer my sympathy to the family and say I am happy I visited Bob last year for a stroll down memory lane.
Bob was my friend, my sometimes mentor and for a time my employer at CFBC. In the 1960s Bob offered air time to UNB-SJ students to do a show on Saturday afternoon and I volunteered. It was called “The Next Two Hours”. It was a magazine of music, student news, social and other events and opened me to the possibilities that allowed me to enjoy many years as a broadcast news reporter. Back in the late 60’s Bob thought it was a "really good idea" and we entered a dory race in the UNB-SJ Winter Carnival. It didn’t end well, as we flipped over and had to be rescued by the pilot boat.
I have years of stories and happy memories of a truly remarkable man. Rest in peace my friend.

I first met Bob when his brother David decided to run for the federal PC Party in January 1980. He was very energetic in supporting his brother. We met occasionally over the years as we shared an interest in municipal politics (I was a Moncton City Councillor from 1986 to 1998). My dad (Colonel Bruce Anderson, (d 20 April 2023)) was involved with the militia in Fredericton and Saint John for many years and I know the two bumped into each other often. My last recollection of Bob was a meeting in my office about 10 years ago to discuss a project of his. We talked for over 2 hours on so many subjects that I cannot recall what Bob's particular project was! But he left with some documents he wanted. I suspect Bob, Gerry and Bruce are having a lively chat right now.
Bob will be well and long remembered.

David Lockhart and I planned a fishing trip along the Saint John river, Uncle Bob gave loan of one of his boats, I was at the helm and suddenly too close to the shore and…. rocks. We(the crew ) we’re uninjured however I can’t say the same for the boat’s outboard motor, after arriving on shore a phone call was made and Uncle Bob collected us along with his boat, he was not angry, I could tell by that grin we all know all was okay.

So sorry to read this. Bob was President of C.A.M.P.U.S. at UNB, the organization for mature and part-time students, and he always treated me well as the group's employee. He and I also worked at the seniors' radio station through CHSR, reading news in the early morning. He was always friendly and respectful and I appreciated him very much. He always made a worthwhile contribution to any cause or interest he undertook. I send condolences to his family from our family. Sincerely, Carolyn Turney

Scott and Agnus ; Dawn and I send our sincere condolences to you and your family. I have often spoken about your father reflecting back to when he was Mayor of the City of Saint John . A true visionary. As far as I’m concerned he put Saint John on the map and paved the road for growth an economic development . If it were not for his strong leadership, Market Square and Brunswick Square would have never become a reality . Pat Rocca ,the last major developer this City had presented a vision and a project , that was Market square. Your father Bob Lockhart embraced that vision and that project and with his strong leadership made it become a reality. Having been president of Local 771 IAFF for a number of years it is no wonder that he was made an honorary member . While holding the office of Mayor he appreciated the service that the Saint John Firefighter and Saint John Police Force provided to the citizens of Saint John . He saw the value and always supported fair wage increases and badly needed protective equipment. When I was an MLA I would always get the opportunity to speak to your father and share a few stories from the past . It was once a year at the Christmas reception hosted by the RCMP at J division headquarters . A life well live , may you rest in peace Mayor Arthur Robert “Bob” Lockhart.
Glen & Dawn Tait .

Saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. Our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to his family for your loss. I have known Bob since the early 1980’s when he tried to recruit me to join the Service Battalion in Saint John. He was Mayor at the time. Although, I turned him down, we became good friends through our mutual involvement with numerous organizations. We served together on many Boards and committees. Bob was always so encouraging and supportive to me. He was a true leader, officer, and gentleman. I will always remember his kindness and the many conversations we shared. Our caring thoughts and prayers are with you as you reflect on his incredible life and many contributions to his family, his community, and his country.
Most sincerely,
Bernie & Elizabeth
