Obituary of Gerald Boudreau

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Gerald Boudreau, at the age of 90, on July 13th, 2023, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Gerald was born on December 5th, 1932, to Ozem and Lina (LeBlanc) Boudreau in Memramcook, NB. Gerald went to Collège Saint-Joseph in Memramcook and in 1953, he enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He met Doreen in 1955, and they wed in 1958, going on to have three children:  Suzanne, Denise, and Daniel. Gerald received his Apprenticeship in Carpentry in 1962. In 1966, he relocated the family to Fredericton, where he established a rental business and built their beautiful home.

Gerald loved painting and went on to become an accomplished artist. He had a life-long passion for music.

Gerald is lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Doreen; eldest daughter Suzanne (Ashraf) Ghanem and grandchildren Melissa and Adam; daughter Denise (Miguel) Asbun and granddaughters Yamila and Anaï, and son Daniel (Michelle O’Neill) and granddaughters Maya and Ariel. He is also survived by his brother Norman (late Thérèse) Boudreau, of Moncton; sister Huberte Boucher (Edward Haché), of Moncton; sister Rose-Marie (William) Hall, of Moncton, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Ozem and Lina Boudreau, of Moncton, Gerald is predeceased by his brother Francis (Corinne) Boudreau of Moncton, his brother Paul Eugène (Rose Marie) Boudreau, of Moncton, and his sister Dorine (late Raoul) Arsenault, of Moncton.

Gerald will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul, a strong, patient, and silent man who loved to listen to country music.

The family wishes to thank the Extra-Mural nurses who provided care and allowed him to remain in the home he and Doreen had created and loved. The family further wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, staff, and everyone else who participated in his care at 4SE at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, for their kindness and competence.

Visitation will be from 10-10:45AM on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 at Paroisse Sainte-Anne-des-Pays-Bas, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Everyone is invited to join Gerald’s family afterwards for light refreshments in the basement of the church (655 Priestman Street, Fredericton).

His interment at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery (2130 Lincoln Road, Fredericton) will be held on July 24th, 2023 at 10:30 AM.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Chalmers Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences are gratefully accepted at www.mcadamsfh.com.
