Obituary of Lloyd Douglas Crawford
It is with broken hearts, the family announce the passing of our dad, Lloyd Douglas Crawford, which occurred at Orchard View Care Home on Monday July 17, 2023.
Born in Fredericton, NB, on January 19, 1927, he was the son of the late Estella Cecilia (Goodine) and James Frederick Crawford. Lloyd is survived by his wife Melba June (Ward) who were in the year of their 70th wedding anniversary. Their children, Christopher, Sharon, Anthony, Anna Bernard (Marc), Patrick, and Catherine; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister in law Pauline Crawford and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Gregory Lloyd; daughter Jennifer June Marie Elizabeth; five brothers, James, Joseph, George, John and Frank; two sisters Doris Olive (Vernon), Marie Jones (John) and nephew Johnny Jones.
Lloyd was employed with the Provincial Government Dept. of Highways and Transportation, an accountant for 42 years.
Papa excelled in various sports, and was an accomplished musician, his passion was playing the trumpet. He was a proud member of the Fredericton Marching Band and Dixieland bands and many others. As well as playing requests from his children (Friendly Giant, The Walton’s theme song and many more.)
Papa loved the family camp, spending time canoeing, swimming, and telling great campfire stories.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Orchard View Care Home, Kindred, and Meals on Wheels for the excellent care of our Papa.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11am at St. Dunstan’s Church, Fredericton, NB.
Donations in Papa’s memory can be made to the NB Youth Orchestra, or the Fredericton SPCA.
