Obituary of Joseph Albert Fletcher

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of Joseph Albert Fletcher on July 27, 2023, peacefully at his residence surrounded by loved ones after his brave battle with illness. Born on January 26, 1954, he was the son of Berniece Hood of Magaguadavic, NB (deceased in 2011) and Joseph Fletcher of Fredericton, NB (deceased in 2018).

Joe is survived by one son, Luke Joseph Fletcher, whom he loved dearly. He will be missed by his partner, Nicole Haché; siblings, Gloria Fletcher (Greg Theriault) of Magaguadavic Lake, Marilyn Wilson (Doug Wilson, deceased in 1980) of Saint John, NB, John Fletcher (Iris) of Meteghan, NS, Mary Lou Fletcher (Joe Perry) of Saint John, NB, and Sandra Fletcher (Rick Plourde) of Timmins, ON. Also survived by 5 nephews, Stewart Glaspy, Daniel Glaspy, Andrew Glaspy, Scott Wilson, James Wilson and 1 niece, Josie Fletcher.

Joe was born in Harvey, New Brunswick, and grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick. He studied medicine and law and worked for the provincial government for the last 18 years with no plans for retirement.

Joe really enjoyed reading, music, playing Bridge and other card games. He loved cooking and spending time with family and friends.

At his request there will be no funeral or visitation. To honor his memory please consider a donation to the IWK or SPCA.

There will be a committal of his ashes at Pine Grove Cemetery in Magaguadavic, NB, where he will be laid to rest with his parents. The date will be announced for all who wish to attend.
