Obituary of Merle Arlus Brewer

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Merle Arlus Brewer announce his passing on September 15, 2023 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Born on February 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Arlus and Annie (Staples) Brewer.

Merle will be terribly missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Joan; beloved children, Bev Whynacht (Terry), Lori Brewer and Tim Brewer (Tracy Arnold); adored grandchildren, Meryl, Jerrad, Kristen, Nicholas, and Zachary; darling great granddaughters, Ashlyn, Madison, Riley, Mia, and Bailey, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Merle was predeceased by his son, Stephen and granddaughter, Deanna.

Merle worked as the manager for Brunswick Oxygen and Welding Supply Company Ltd in Saint John for 27 years, retiring in 1987.  An active man, he loved to go camping, bowling and root on the Blue Jays. He was happiest when he was able to spend time with his family that were the pride and joy of his life.

A Memorial Service will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place following the service at Keswick Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Merle’s name made to a charity of your choosing would be appreciated by the family.
