Obituary of Eric Brewer

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Eric Brewer announces his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the age of 66. Born in Fredericton, NB, on May 5, 1957, he was the husband of Pamela Brewer.

 

In addition to his wife, Eric leaves behind his children Andrew, Brent (Natalie), Jeffrey (Michael Knickle), Adam Sullivan, and Amanda Sullivan-Ball (Tristan); mother Juanita Brewer; grandchildren, Clara, Magnolia, Emmett, Evelyn, Logan, Levi and Paige; sisters, Cathie Gilbert (Ron Rinehart) and Karen Phippen (Gordon); many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Eric was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Brewer; grandson, Jaden Brewer; niece, Monica Gilbert.

 

Eric was an honest, hardworking person who was well liked and respected by all who knew him. He read his Bible everyday and did his best to follow its teachings in his daily life. Generous with his time, he was always willing to help someone in need.

 

Eric had a natural ability to build or repair just about anything. At a young age, while helping his father, he developed a passion for working on older vehicles. After graduating from FHS with an award for exceptional achievement in the mechanics program, he went on to become a specialist in rebuilding transmissions and was recognized by his peers for his depth of automotive knowledge. One of Eric’s greatest joys was going for long drives in a car that he modified and built himself. 

 

Eric felt at home in the woods and treasured the time he spent there. He even built his own camp and had many fond memories of hunting and hiking. In the fall, his favourite time of the year, there was nowhere else he would rather be. Over the years, he participated in numerous outdoor activities including biking, fishing, canoeing and snowmobiling. Like his father, he loved watching comedies and telling jokes which kept us laughing and groaning at family gatherings. Eric was an extraordinary person and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

 

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Eric’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
