Obituary of Myrna Louise Holland

It is with sadness that the family of Myrna Holland announces her passing at Pine Grove Nursing Home on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the age of 85. Born in Kingsclear, NB, on July 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lillian (McGuire) Kitchen.

Myrna leaves behind her sons, Jerry Holland (Elsa), Pat Holland (Stephanie) and Harvey Holland (Tammy); daughters, Elva Stairs (Dale) and Irene Holland (Ed); sisters, Faye Stewart and Gloria MacKenzie (Alistair); grandchildren, Melissa Jones, Jason Stairs, Elicia Stairs (Sean Moser), Tara Whelly (Grant), Willie Holland (Charlotte Halbot), Jessie Holland (Melanie MacGillivray), Chipman Holland (Annie Liston), and Ben Holland (Jessica); many great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patsy Kitchen; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Myrna was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Holland and special friend, Charlie Mazerall; sons, Michael and Danny Holland; brothers, Lloyd, Hazen, Eugene and Arthur Kitchen; sisters, Jennie Cochrane, Velma Stafford and Grace Constance; chosen brother, Carl McIntyre; infant siblings, Frank and Kathleen; brothers-in-law, Al Constance and Allison Stewart; sisters-in-law, Shirley MacDonald, Ruby Kitchen and Helen Kitchen.

Myrna was a stay-at-home mom while raising her six children and she also babysat other children during the day. Myrna could also be seen quite often working with Wilfred in his body shop. She was always willing to give a helping hand. After Wilfred passed away, she worked at the Hartt Shoe Factory and Palmer McLellan Shoe Factory. After they closed, she worked cleaning rooms for motels and from there she moved onto caring for seniors. She started out by going into private care, then went to the Farraline Home and finally retired from Hanwell Special Care Home. Myrna not only worked hard but cherished her time spent with family and friends.

Myrna’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Pine Grove Nursing Home for the outstanding care and compassion shown to her during her time there.

Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 11:30 – 1:00 pm. A memorial service in the funeral home chapel follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in the Magundy Sandbank Cemetery, Prince William Parish, following the service. For those who wish, donations in Myrna’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Pine Grove Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
