Obituary of Wilhelmina Catharina Rimpilainen

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Wilhelmina “Willie” Catharina (Zaalberg) Rimpilainen on September 26, 2023, at the Oromocto Public Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Rotterdam, Holland, on May 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Willem and Catharina (Ranselaar) Zaalberg. A part of the Post-WWII Dutch migration to Canada, Willie had enjoyed 71 years in Canada having arrived at Pier 21 Halifax, NS in June 1952.

Willie is survived by her beloved spouse, Taisto Rimpilainen; sons, Brian (Karena Graca) and Don Rimpilainen; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Willem Zaalberg (Margaret); a sister, Vera Philip (Mike), as well as many extended family members.

A graveside service for family will be held at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
