I am very sorry I missed this obit of Peppi, but as I am now in Australia I don't check as often as I should. First of all, my deepest sympathies to Peppi's family. I sincerely hope Peppi related some of his "aviation adventures" - as he had many, some almost unreal what he could do with an airplane - no fear either in the early days. Of course, he mellowed a bit when he flew for Saudia in the Middle East......my dad, Charlie started flying with Peppi and Guy at Fredericton Aviation in the early 60s.....Karl Harvey, another legend, was one of the instructors there.....I followed my Dad in 1968 when I was still in High School, so I did all my initial flying there until the Fredericton Flying Club opened in 1969....as time went on, I actually bought a twin engined plane and chartered it out in the early 70s- parked at Fredericton Aviation - run by Guy ( what a gentleman ).....I heard so many stories about Peppi - yes, a true aviation legend for sure. In the end, we were both Captains on the Lockheed L1011 Tristar, he with Saudia and I with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong.....after having flown in the Middle East for 10 years myself, I now kick myself for not reaching out to Peppi when in Fredericton, but I got back so infrequently and there was always my own family and friends.
I hope Peppi's family get to read this - he was one of a kind and a true aviation hero......

To Pepi's Family:
I started my flying career in 1968., having just turned 17. At that time, I was unsure whether aviation would be a career or not. My father, Charlie, received his Private Pilot's License in the early 60s at Fredericton Aviation - run, of course, by Guy, with Pepi in attendance at various times. Some of my best times were there and I was in awe of Pepi.....everyone who owned an airplane had no problems letting Pepi "have a go".....he could fly anything ( once he figured out how to start it ). Pepi was a legend in aviation, not only in NB, but the "boys" in Ottawa with the DOT was very well aware of Pepi and some of his "antics".....nothing serious, but some of the stories became aviation folklore. As I moved on with my career, I was well aware that Pepi was flying for Saudia while I was also in the Middle East flying in Abu Dhabi. Pepi retired and I moved on to Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong - receiving my first command on the L1011 Tristar - an aircraft that Pepi also Commanded. I was thrilled that both of us flew that incredible aircraft and I always meant to contact Pepi during my very few trips "back home"......should have, could have - a regret for sure. I would like Pepi's family to know that he was a master with any aircraft - I very much looked up to him and he was certainly one of the reasons I decided to "go for it" in aviation. I can still see him in the hanger, having a laugh.....great times. Thanks Pepi.

My sincere condolences to the family. Pepi was my landlord when the building on Queen Street was still there back in the 90’s. He was always kind and would do anything he could to please his tenants. He loved to talk about his flying days his experiences in other countries, a truly likeable humane being but he stood his ground in negotiations for rent increases!!
The years have passed since and as we go forward in our own lives I had forgotten about Pepi but reading his obituary this morning brought back many pleasant memories of his gentle kindness. RIP Pepi,

I fondly remember the many adventures flying with Pepi. Especially on chapters to the US where the registration of the Aero Commander CF-FAA always got us good ATC service by using only the last 3 letters in our radio comm. He was a joy to be with and an accomplished pilot . He had a life well lived.
My condolences to all the family.

Rose-Anne and Nina, my sincere sympathies for your loss. I didn't know Pepi well, but I always remember him coming to Sunday brunch after mass one time with a group of us from Saint Dunstan's and since I have an interest in aviation I was so interested hearing him talk about his career as a pilot. He had so many interesting stories. I'm sure he will be missed by many. Take care. David LeBlanc

On behalf of the members of Turnbull (NB) Chapter, Canadian Aviation Historical Society, we are deeply saddened by this news. Our condolences to Pepi's family and friends.
He was a long-time member and supporter of our Society. He spoke to our members a few times...saying he had an amazing career is an understatement.
He flew the Edmundston Lancaster on her final flight to Lancaster. That aircraft is now being restored at the RCAF Museum in Trenton. Part of Pepi's storied career will be preserved with that Lanc.....
