I just heard of the passing of one of my oldest and dearest friends this week. I would like to pass along my sincere condolences to her family.
I read her obituary and in it were mentioned her involvement in Synod and Camp Medley. How can I possibly summarize my association and close working with Betty at Synod and Camp Medley for over 25 years. Her dedication and work especially as a long time member of the Camp Medley Board cannot be underestimated. Always engaged and always ready to lend a hand to whatever task needed to be done. Cheerfully and humbly. She and Nancy Blizzard, a dear friend of Betty’s, not only attended all the meetings wherever they were but always provided a little lunch. They did this for years and years until the day Nancy and Betty were no longer there and we all wondered where the lunch was. It was at that moment, we truly recognized their work for all those years. I thank Betty for all those great memories. She will always be in our hearts. RIP my friend.
I know I’m late with this but I hope the funeral home passes this message along to the family.

I was so shocked and sad to hear of Betty's passing. The last time I saw her (September 2022) she was in great shape, as usual...great mind and still tending the garden. I am so sorry for your loss Mary and family. She was a force of a woman in her very quiet way. Hugs to you all. Nancy

When I moved to New Brunswick in 1968, Betty was one of the first Home Economists to reach out and welcome me. Being new to the area, I appreciated it so much. We’ve been friends ever since and part of the fun of Home Ec conferences was always having the “two Bettys” (Betty Scovil and Betty Woodside) as the registration committee. She was a lovely woman, she will be missed not only by her family but by everyone who knew her. I was unable to attend her funeral but my thoughts were with you all and my heart was there.

Joan, Jean, Catherine and Mary,
Our heart goes out to you. Just from the stories you have shared and meeting her a few times know your mom was a special and beautiful lady in many ways. She was the matriarch, core and heart of your family, keeping you all together always even though she was so far away.
She will be missed.
Thinking of you all we pray blessings over you and all your family.
Love, Jerry and Shara-Lynn Weller and family.

Catherine was my childhood best friend and arguably still my best and dear friend. After long absences , we are able to pick up easily right where we left off. Mrs. Scovil ( to me) always had a smile on her face and was so positive ( never dwelling on negatives). I loved how she always had CBC on the radio when I showed up to pick Catherine up for school. I am sure she must have chuckled to herself that summer we were found in the kitchen making cookies at least two to three times per week. I loved that she was a gardener and always had fresh cut sweet peas in a vase in her living room. . Finally I loved that she always remembered me when I would visit, especially in recent years. My thoughts are with you all . I hope that time’s passing brings healing and peace to soften the sadness of losing Betty. Joan Lawrence.

First I want to tell you that Aunt Betty’s obituary is perfect and exactly how I would have described her. Aunt Betty always impressed me with her ability to keep up with technology - the last time she visited us and Mom is Edmonton she was showing me photos of her family and updating contact information on her IPhone very proficiently. Her thoughtfulness, grace, and love for her family are also a very memorable traits. I always appreciated and enjoyed her phone call to me every Christmas and visits with her when we were in New Brunswick. I’m sure that everyone who knew her will miss her greatly and know that she will live on with our memories of her.

We were saddened to hear of Betty's passing. We always found her to be a very understanding "with it" type of person. Although we didn't see her throughout the pandemic or after, she called on a regular basis and we were always pleased to hear from her. A great lady.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I have known Mrs. Scovil my entire life. Anytime I was able to get back to Parish Church for a service, she would be waiting after the service to say hello. My wife met her when we all served on the Camp Medley board. She was a lovely, Christian woman, always the same, always smiling, and will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with you.
