As I was laying here, I added Steve to my prayers, as I often did since he reached out to let me know of his diagnosis. I didn't want to, but knew I needed to do a search to find an update, somewhere. I'm heart broken to have found his obituary. My heart hurts for the family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We had become acquainted through bodybuilding, education, and volleyball back in 2008. We had finally met in person in 2010, and were able to keep in touch and update each other over the years. I hadn't heard from him for a while and then November 2023, he reached out and I'm so glad that he did because, as my friend, he's never been far from my thoughts. Please accept my thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences. I will miss you, my friend...

Gone too soon! I worked with Steve at EECD for all of the years he was there. He was a team player, problem solver, and genuine person. When Steve moved on from EECD, he was so excited to return to his roots in the classroom to teach middle school math where he knew he could make a difference in the lives of students. Mission accomplished!
Steve never hesitated to speak about his family with love, respect, and pride!
My sincere condolences to each of his family members and friends as you learn to move forward without his earthly presence!
I hope you can draw on the gifts of courage and strength that he modelled for you to guide you each and every day!
The outpouring of condolences on his passing is a true testament to a life well-lived and how he touched the lives of others!
I am thankful to have known Steven Parks!

Our deepest condolences to the family.

I would like you send my sincere condolences to all
Of Stephens family and all who was blessed to know him. I would like to share a memory of Stephen from when my
daughter was blessed to have him as a teacher for math. My Daughter attended Keswick Valley Memorial School and during her time there she struggled with math and soon fell behind in meeting her outcomes and keeping up with her peers, Stephen did math intervention with her often giving up his lunch hours to take the time to explain the steps needed in order to meet the outcome so she could move forward to master the next step , this is also where he allowed her to learn at her own pace and in her own way often testing her and allowing her to explain how she came up with the outcome as It was not always the standard cookie cutter we all learn the same way. Mr. Parks worked with her most of the yr one on one and before she move on to high We had a discussion with him prior to her going to Leo as we were concerned that perhaps a bigger school was not for her as she felt like she would get lost in the shuffle and bigger class sizes. His remark to her was .. if you want to go to a bigger school don’t let the fear of getting lost keep you from doing what you wish to do, if you allow it now ,you will
Always allow it to control you, remember the sky is the limit and you can do remarkable things, try things that are hard that is how we flourish . I think a bigger school would be great for you! And boy was he right she is now not only
At the level of her peers but is making high 70s to mid 80s in math and was accepted on the spot to St.Thomas next yr ! With her math mark being the final
Mark to help her get accepted on the spot.
Thank you Mr Parks for being the voice for your students and knowing not everyone learns the same way ,for taking the time to give some encouragement and keep pushing them forward you truly were one of a kind and will truly be missed by all of those you had an impact on!

Hi April: Thank you for offering your condolences. Steve was a dedicated teacher that was willing to often give up his noon hours to help her on an on going basis with her math He also recognized that his students didn’t all learn the same way. As well he wanted for them to be able for them to move with confidence into their futures-going to a larger school and would have been so pleased to learn that she had been accepted into college on her math mark! Mr parks was my teacher from grade 5 to grade 8. He was an amazing teacher and an even better person, I had grown really close with him over those 4 years and he’s the reason I am who I am today. Mr parks inspired me to be the best version of myself I could be and to never give up on anything he taught me I could do anything I put my mind to and I didn’t thank him enough for that. He never failed to make me or any other students laugh even on the bad days or the days everyone was tired, he did his best and his best was more then enough. I’ll never forget one day in grade 8 we had to dress like a teacher so I chose Mr parks since he was my favourite, I showed up to school that day in a button up shirt with my blue jeans and most importantly my cane, I got many laughs and Mr parks then proceeded to teach me how to walk with that cane after that you couldn’t tell who was who. I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Steve. It was a pleasure working with him at Keswick Valley Memorial. Through his conversations and actions he displayed a great love for his family and of course his four legged friend Marley. He will be deeply missed.

Hi Kim: Thank you for expressing your condolences to us. I’m so pleased to learn that you had taught with him at KV. He was a much loved part of my family and has left a huge void behind him. On a different note - I’m sure that you remember bringing your dear doggie Bailey and visiting with my mother (Jackie) and I at Brunswick Hall - Shannex. I remember Mom and I playing with Bailey on my mother’s bed. This was our treat for the week and we so enjoyed your visits!!

I’m so sorry to hear this news. I was an EA at Albert street school and was in his class with a number of students. He was an excellent teacher and years later we connected in a store in Keswick and we had a great chat. My daughter had him as a teacher at Albert Street and she absolutely loved his class. He always keep the class involved and shared some of his life experiences. She will always remember his stories. He gave her an absolute fabulous reference to attend an outdoor adventure with ducks unlimited. Rest in peace. A great man.
