Obituary of Constance Joan Mills
MILLS, CONSTANCE JOAN
It is with profound sadness that the family of Constance (Connie) Mills of Fredericton NB announce her passing on December 8, 2020.
Born in Tracy NB on April 16, 1938, Connie was the eldest child of the late Theodore and Beaumont (Tracy) Mills. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Dale Mills, sister Rae Mills and spouse Brian Alexander. She will be forever remembered by her children Rochelle McLaughlin (Kim), Todd Murray (Kim), Lori Murray-Hawkins (Darryl) and Tammy Slager (late Tony). She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren Rhiannon McLaughlin (Tom), Shayne Murray (Kayla), Matthew Rozon (Emma), Danielle Rozon, Carrie Slager (Mackenzie), Jennifer Slager, and great-granddaughter Madison Murray.
Connie was a talented seamstress in her younger days, making many prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and even a wedding dress, in addition to making many special items for her own girls. She was also a gifted artist who worked in several mediums including charcoal, watercolors, and her favorite oils. She could draw anything, from animals to flowers to elaborate landscapes. Until late this summer Connie was also a dedicated Daily Gleaner carrier who for the past 14 years set out six days a week at 4 a.m. to make sure the paper got delivered on time. She gave as much attention to this job as she did the many other careers she was involved in over the years.
One of her lifelong passions was her love of muscle cars - anything that had a big motor and would go fast. She finally realized her dream of owning one with the purchase of a "BigNBad" Corvette. She also obtained her motorcycle license at the age of 62 and could be seen on her Harley every summer until she turned 78. Connie was always energetic and up for any adventure, whether backpacking through Europe, hiking the trails of NB, or driving to Boston to visit a Zoo.
There will be no funeral services or visitation at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice House Fredericton would be appreciated by the family.
