I had the pleasure of being taught by Mrs. Hickey in grade 2 and 3. She was so special. She would refer to me as “Miss Megan”. Everyday for lunch she’d help me peel my banana with a smile. Took turns taking her students out to Pizza Hut once a month. Instilled pure competitiveness (while learning!) with her multiplication dice game. I barely ran into her after elementary, but when I graduated grade 12, she came through the drive thru of my part time job (DQ) to give me a graduation card with a Tim’s gift card. This woman made me feel so loved! She’ll be forever cherished and always part of my core childhood memories. Love you Mrs. Hickey!

I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Hickey as a teacher at a time when I had no interest in education. I was bullied often, and found solace in her classroom. She was always kind, and had a beautiful way of teaching without making you feel overwhelmed. I still have a book of poetry she gave me that I will hold dear. My deepest condolences to her family, and anyone who was blessed enough to encounter her and feel her love.

Oh how sad to learn this. She was not only a wonderful, creative teacher whose students always measured up - setting expectations-she knew they could learn and would achieve. She was proud of each and every student! Linda provided support, encouragement, positivity, joy and understanding to parents. She was a very special woman and inspiration.
Condolences to her family and close friends. The obituary is a beautiful tribute to her and so reflective of the woman she was.

To Linda's family: I wish to express my sincere condolences to all of you grieving the loss of such a grand lady. She not only taught her students life lessons, she also taught all those who encountered her. I will think of her often as an energetic teacher who never took no for an answer and who found a way to get something done that others would just have given up on achieving that certain goal. Linda, I look forward to seeing you again in the next world.
