To the families of Mabel Doak, Rick and I send our sincere condolences. How comforting it must be reading all the wonderful memories so many have shared and what an impact she had on so many who benefited from her love of music. On a personal note, I will add she made a delicious mincemeat pie and I will think of her each time I make one from her recipe. Thinking of you all at this time, Bonnie Phillips

Mabel quite simply changed my life. When we moved to Fredericton in 2006, I timidly took the plunge and began voice lessons with her. Her musical expertise, coupled with her warm and wise approach to each student, soon put me at ease. She helped me find my voice and overcome a lifelong fear of singing in front of people. My daughter used to joke that she was not just my singing teacher but my life coach. More than that, she quickly became my friend.
Though I was not able to attend the tribute concert held in her honour at Christ Church last year, I was privileged to visit her twice over the last couple of years. Both times I sang for her one of the songs we had worked on, and felt a real connection with her through the music we had shared.
My condolences to all of her family and friends. Mabel made a difference in so many people's lives, and she will not be forgotten.

I would like to send my most sincere condolences to Diane Wilkins and her family for the loss of her mother. I remember that Mrs. Doak was always at our Cecilian Singers concerts. Not being from Fredericton, I always enjoyed the many anecdotes that Diane shared with the choir. I regret not having had the opportunity to have studied with her. However, I have enjoyed being in Diane's choir. Loss of a loved one, no matter if expected, is still a tremendous loss. May your many memories bring you solace.
Sincerely,
Linda Ferrier
