Obituary of Jacqueline "Jackie" Elizabeth Daley

With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Jacqueline "Jackie" Elizabeth Daley at the age of 88. She passed away on February 3, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital surrounded by her family.  Jacqueline was born on May 24, 1935, to parents Thomas and Sarah Harris in Red Bank, New Brunswick.

Jacqueline graduated from the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Chatham, NB, on June 13, 1957, and became a Certified Registered Nurse on September 21, 1957.

She met the love of her life, Everett, in 1956 at Ben’s Hamburger Stand in Chatham and the two were married on October 26, 1957, in Red Bank. Jacqueline was always affectionately known by the nickname “Johnny Liz” to her beloved Everett. They had three boys- Kevin, Steven, and Christopher.

Jacqueline was a very proud nurse and spent much of her career at the Stan Cassidy Rehabilitation Center where she “went for 1 year and stayed for 21.” She was lovingly known as the ‘Hug Therapist’ by her patients, family, and loved ones.

After her retirement, Jacqueline and Everett were avid golfers. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) at St. Dunstan’s. She always enjoyed watching the Blue Jays with Everett by her side. Jackie had a generous spirit, often sharing her love of baking and knitting with those she held close.

Jacqueline is survived by Everett, her devoted husband, of 66 years. Children, Kevin (Holly), Steven (Laura), and Christopher. She was a beloved “Nanny” to her 16 grandchildren (Kelsey, Robbi, Tyler, Katie, Kyle, Kirsten, Kody, Kiera, Konner, Keegan, Killian, Kevin, Kristopher, Trent, Sean, and Natasha) and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Mary (Sandy), Shirley (Bernard), Ada, and Helen (Allan).

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Yvonne, Patrick, Bernedetta, Thomas Jr., Bobby, Judy, and Paul.

The family is forever appreciative of the care extended by the nurses and staff of 4NE and the Palliative Care units at the DECH.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Hanwell Road, Fredericton on Thursday, February 15 at 1PM. For those unable to attend in person a live stream will be available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/event/4068815

The interment will follow at a later date.

All are welcome to join the family for a celebration of Jackie’s life that will be held at Holy Family church following the service from 2-4PM.

For those who wish, donations can be made toward The Chalmers Foundation or the charity of your choice.

As much as we will miss her, we are comforted knowing that God gained our very special “Hug Therapist” in heaven.

See you again, Nanny.
