Heaven became a bit larger again. This kind soul always had a twinkle in his eye and rarely left a room without someone smiling at a good natured quip or a teasing word. And he made the best vinegar tarts I've ever had the pleasure to sample. I am sad to hear of his passing but he will be in good company up there. Goodbye Uncle Hugh, till we meet again.

Uncle Hugh will be missed. He was a multitalented man. The youngest of his family, he travelled the furthest from home but his heart was always in the Maritimes. We were proud of all that he achieved.

Hugh was a good friend to my Dad and was such a great person to chat with. Many conversations were had with him over the coffee counter at the store. He was one of a kind.

My thoughts are with you and your family at this time. I will always remember the time spent with Hugh and the family in the summer's at Mactaquac, him trying patiently to teach me to sail, and winter's with maple syrup taffy. I think of him fondly every time I make his vinegar tart recipe.

Mike Joan and Jeanette, I was so sorry to know you'd lost your Dad. You've captured his spirit in your lovely tribute to him. Christin and I have wonderful memories of times spent in Mactaquac and Auburn - Hugh made mealtimes, even barbeques, gourmet events. My thoughts are with you and your families.

Sending you our sympathy during this difficult time. Hugh was such a good friend to Kevin and me, particularly with Kevin's deer hunting and my fly fishing. We enjoyed many an evening sitting around the table, talking about these sports and our dogs, of course. Please accept our sincere condolences.
