Obituary of Norman Finnamore

It is with heavy hearts the family of Norman “Norm” Finnamore announce his peaceful passing at Hospice House in Fredericton on Friday, March 1st, 2024. Norm grew up in Arthurette and was the son of the late Clayton and the late Cora (Furge) Finnamore. He was predeceased by his brothers Burton and George Finnamore and sister Peggy Sullivan.

Norm worked for the City of Fredericton for 32 years before his retirement in 2007 and could always be found telling stories and cracking jokes with his crew on different job sites throughout the city. Norm was the first one to offer a helping hand to anyone in need and you could always count on him to bring the tunes to any special occasion. He loved working on a variety of different projects with his wife Di, friends, son and grandchildren over the years; his favourite project of all being the family cottage in Lake George lovingly named Mossey Haven. Norm will always be remembered for his kind heart, his ability to make anyone laugh and his never-ending stories.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Dianna (Henderson); his children, Donna-Lee Storey and Corey Finnamore (Kelly); grandchildren, Josh, Janisha, Michaela, Carrie, Jonathan, Danielle and Abbie; great-grandchildren, Lana, Jayce and Nova-Rae. Sisters, Doreen Stacey, Joyce O’Hagan, Nancy Finnamore; brother, Doug Finnamore; brothers of the heart, Mark and Roger Finnamore; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

As per Norm’s wishes there will be no funeral. A celebration of Life will take place at Nashwaaksis Lions Club, 37 Route 148, Killarney Rd, Killarney, on Friday, March 8th, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to Hospice Fredericton. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Hospice House.
