Obituary of Frank Michael Kileel Oley

With heavy hearts, the Oley family announces the sudden death of their beloved Frank, at the age of 65. He was struck by a motor vehicle near his home in Panama City Beach, Florida, the evening of December 17th. Frank was predeceased by his parents George J. Oley and May Kileel Oley. Left to mourn are his brothers, David and Stephen (both of Fredericton), his sisters Joanne (Vancouver, B.C.) and Margaret (York Harbor, Maine), and many beloved nieces and nephews. Frank also leaves behind a grieving community of Oley, Kileel, and Ramey family members, and an extended family of close friends across the United States and Europe. Born and raised in Fredericton, Frank "spread his wings" after obtaining his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with honours, from the University of New Brunswick, in 1977. Following graduation, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in the successful pursuit of a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Owen School of Management, Vanderbilt University (1977-1979). His career in business started at Arthur Anderson in Boston, MA then continued as Chief Financial Officer at Sea Palms Resort on St. Simons Island, Georgia, before moving to Panama City Beach, Florida, to take up the position of CFO at Bay Point Yacht and Country Club. His pre-retirement years in the Florida Panhandle were spent as an independent financial advisor. After early retirement, Frank indulged his love of travel, before devoting himself to his mother's care, following her diagnosis of Alzheimer's and the death of his father. He also provided many selfless years of opening his Florida home to his siblings and their families. His home, which he designed to mirror his boyhood home, was not only a refuge for his family from the harsh New Brunswick and Maine winters, but also a place of joy and happiness, filled with Frank's goodness and light. His love showed itself "at the table", in the gourmet meals he prepared and shared with his family and friends. The warmth of Florida's climate paled in comparison to Frank's own warmth. Frank was also very active in the "Bay Point" community where he resided for 36 years, and used his talents to serve on many local and national committees, including the American Lung Association. He was a member of St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, and hosted many family Florida Easters. For many years, Frank opened his home to teenage exchange students from Europe who lived with him while attending a local high school. He cherished them, and made lifelong friends in the process, following their achievements, and becoming part of their families. We will never know a kinder, more hospitable man. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 2 pm. Frank was a man of "good cheer". And so, the family requests that he be remembered with smiles and laughter. Please offer a short prayer with Frank's name written on your hearts.
