Obituary of John "Jack" Thomas Carruthers

Peacefully, on April 10, 2024, John “Jack” Thomas Carruthers, husband of Dorothy (Hogan) Carruthers, passed away at Fredericton Hospice.  Born on March 2, 1949 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late George Russell Carruthers and Christene Annie Catherine (Whitfield) Carruthers.

Jack will be sadly missed by his wife of 30 years, Dorothy, his sister, Cindy Chessie (Paul), his cherished niece Melissa Martin (Jeff), grandnephew Eric, grandniece Marian, special aunt Margaret “Mardi” Marks, other cousins, nephews and nieces, as well as Dorothy’s brothers, sisters and their families.

Jack loved music, cold beer and sharing good times with friends.  A highlight for Jack and Dorothy was their yearly vacation in PEI when Jack enjoyed all the fresh fish and seafood he could eat!  Such great memories!!

The family wishes to extend their appreciation and thanks to the dedicated staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and to the staff of Fredericton Hospice where Jack quietly passed away while listening to guitar music and song.

Arrangements are entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home. In the fall, friends and family will gather for the interment, followed by a celebration of life. The date will be announced at a later time. For those who wish, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to Fredericton Hospice.
