Obituary of Gregory Joseph Doucette

It is with broken hearts that the family announce the passing of Gregory Joseph Doucette on December 30, 2020 in Fredericton New Brunswick. Born on December 31, 1954, Gregg was the son of the late Hubert "Gabe" and Lilian "Lily" Doucette. Gregg was the owner/operator of Premiere Van Lines and the Fredericton and PEI agent for AMJ Campbell. His service on the Board of AMJ Campbell Inc. and other industry committees was appreciated by those who served with him and benefited from his wit and wisdom. He was a great supporter of the SUN Committee, assisting individuals in their move from homelessness to affordable housing. Further community engagement included support for the Habitat for Humanity Restore and Walk So Kids Can Talk (Kid's Help Phone). In his younger years, Gregg was an accomplished musician, singer and song writer who inspired other family members to pick up the guitar and learn to share his love of music. Yet, the center of Gregg's life and his reason for being was his family. He loved unconditionally and without reservation and would happily go without personally in order to bring joy to those he loved. A quiet man with a dry sense of humour, Gregg has left his family with a legacy of love, laughter and sacrificial giving, a legacy they will treasure for a lifetime. Gregg is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mavis; daughters Beckie and Sara; grandchildren Ben (Emma), James and Sam; great grandson arriving in March, 2021; siblings Eric (Terri), Tim (Laura), Shelley (Rick), and Jeff (Sandy); sister-in-law Heather (Richard); brother-in-law Dale; as well as many friends. In addition to his parents, Gregg was predeceased by his mother-in-law Kate Finnemore. A private funeral service will take place at Brunswick Street Baptist Church with an interment to follow in the spring. For those who wish, donations to the Sun Committee through the John Howard Society or a charity of their choosing would be appreciated by the family.
