Very sad to hear about the end of Claudine's life, but a relief that her suffering is over. Since my late teens she was never anything but good-humoured, humble, and affectionate with me. When she'd not seen me in over a decade and immediately exclaimed at my gain in weight, Johnny scolded her, but she laughed and insisted that she'd known me "as a kid" and could "saying anything about Brian I want to!" Her teasing was warm and welcome. It's now time to return to Alden's poems written out of his deep love for her.
