Obituary of Michael John Thibodeau
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael John Thibodeau on May 29, 2024, at the York Care Centre. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on July 15, 1946, he was the son of the late Jean and Annie Thibodeau.
Mike graduated from Fredericton High School in 1964, and the University of N.B. Mechanical Engineering in 1970. He then moved to Saint John and worked for Simms Machinery Dev. From 1970 – 1973. His next career move took him to NB Power Commission in 1973 and he worked there until his retirement in 2003. Most days thereafter he could be found tinkering in his garage, or walking his dogs. He was happiest riding his motorcycle and enjoying his boat with family and friends. Mike had a unique sense of humour and loved laughing at his own jokes.
Mike will be dearly missed by his wife of 45 years, Karen (nee Harvey), and his dog Tess. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Marie Levert (Dan), grandchildren Jordon and Emily of Ottawa, ON; step-son Dana Hicks (Barb), grandsons Connor, Darcy, Zane, and great-grandson Seth.
He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Lowe (Ron), of Quispamsis, nephews Chris (Andrea) and Nicholas; special relatives Wade and Brenda Lounsbury, nieces Lorrie (Chris) and Shanon (Gordon).
A Celebration of Life will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00pm. For those who wish, memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Fredericton SPCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Mike, you are at peace now. We will love and miss you forever.
