Obituary of George Willard Allen

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of George Willard Allen announce his passing on June 6th, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was born on October 1, 1930, in Fredericton to George and Doris (Tims) Allen.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Anna (Merryweather) Allen; his daughters, Susan and Sandra (David); step-daughters, Angela (Scott) and Wendy (Dave); grandchildren, Eryn (Mark), Jordan (Samantha), Sara, Samuel, Colin (Caitlin), and Zain; and his five great grandchildren, Nyah, Ava, Sally, Poppy, and Kade. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Andrew Allen; his brother, Jay Allen; and his sister, Carolyn Kethro.

George was born and raised in Fredericton and had a deep love of his hometown.  He was a kind man who cherished the outdoors, reading, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff on 4NE at the DECH for the care and compassion shown to George and his family during his stay there. We would also like to thank the staff of Bayshore, and Extra-Mural for all their care and support.

He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

As per George’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
