It is with great regret that our family says goodbye to Brian MacLean at Hospice Fredericton on July 18, 2024. Brian was born in Exeter, Ontario on September 19, 1948, the eldest son of Margaret and William MacLean.
Brian is survived by his wife and best friend, Terri. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in 2023. Brian and Terri’s children are Laurie (Michael), Leah, Sandy (Mary) and grandson, Lucas Burns. Brian is survived by his Brother, Allan (Donna), niece, Lindsay (Scott) and nephew, Scott (Kait), great-nieces, Lena and Macie and great-nephew, Logan Maskell; Brother-in-law, Doug Love (Judy) and nephew, Pat (Allison) niece, Kera and great nephew, Josue. He is also survived by his Mother-in-law, Rica Love. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Margaret MacLean. He is survived by cousins, Linda Reid, Keith Hay, Lynn Skea, and Gwen Devereaux.
Brian’s career as a civil engineer began in Ontario. He built the bridges from Ottawa to Hawkesbury on 417 Highway. He then built a bridge outside Arnprior and one in Burnstown. He came to Fredericton in 1978 to organize the building of the Westmorland Bridge. He finished his engineering career as President of GTI here in Fredericton. He retired from GTI in 2013. Brian will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. He coached his children at various sports throughout the years. He loved to entertain and cooked many meals for family and friends. His many friendships have spanned the decades. He spent hours in his workshop building furniture for his children and grandson. He then spent time making crafts and projects for his friends. Another passion was taking pictures on holidays. After one special holiday in 2016, he turned the pictures into a wonderful book of their travels.
He loved to take his family on ski vacations accompanied by close friends Sniders and Rinnes. After a day on the hill, he enjoyed organizing dinners and then board games in the evening.
Brian’s life was filled with the love of family and friends. He will be missed by all.
